What is Microblading?
Microblading is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup, unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing it is less invasive an is considered semi-permanent. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on the skin type and skin routine. We use a hand held tool with multiple ultra fine needles and each “hair” is etched into the skin giving an incredible natural and realistic look. Pigments are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color. Microblading can correct or even completely reconstruct lost eyebrow!
How long does it take?
For the first session you should allow yourself to book out 2-3 hours of your day. During the session the artist will draw and shape the brows for clients approval, this takes up a large quantity of the time to get the points (beginning, arch, and tail) correct an identical. We then follow with pigment selection, once you are satisfied with the choices we have made we then begin the procedure. The clue client is to come for a touch up visit 6 weeks after the initial procedure for minor or any necessary touch ups, the second procedure is a much shorter time frame, typically 1-2 hours.
What is the healing process?
The eyebrow area will be red and slightly tender after the procedure and color will appear very dark. this is normal and part of the process. The color will then fade up to 40% as it heals. Like any normal tattoo you will notice some shedding; while it may be tempting do not pick as it may result in damage to the skin and the outcome of your new eyebrows. True pigment color selection will reveal itself after the micro bladed area is completely healed, typically the healing time is 6 weeks.
Is the touch up session necessary?
YES! Everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during the first session and may need to be refilled with more pigment. The pigment color may also need to be adjusted, brow thickness and strokes may also be adjusted. Most importantly the touch up will ensure your new brows look perfect and retain the color for a whole year or more!
Is it painful?
The pain level to this procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure your artist will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area and will also reapply when necessary during the procedure. After the procedure you will notice redness and slight swelling, this is normal.
How long does it last?
Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as a traditional tattoo with the tattoo gun, the area will naturally fade over time. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years depending on the skin type (normal, oily, dry, combo) an age (youthful/mature).
What is the aftercare?
Proper care following your procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of color is to be expected; this is another purpose of the touch up visit.
Keep the area of pigmentation lightly noise with special oil ONLY for microblading aftercare. Always gently wash before applying. When using the oil do not use to much or over apply. To apply you may use a clean q-tip. Apply oil 2-3 times a day (morning, noon, and night) for a maximum of 7 days.
